Celebrating Liszt’s 200th birthday

The Department of Music in Arts & Sciences has big plans for celebrating the 200th birthday of 19th-century composer Franz Liszt: a daylong symposium Saturday, Feb. 26, followed by an evening concert by Scottish pianist Kenneth Hamilton, renowned for his spectacular performances of Romantic music, particularly the work of Liszt. FULL STORY

Churchill Scholarship awarded to senior

Adeetee Bhide, a senior majoring in biology in Arts & Sciences, has been awarded a prestigious Churchill Scholarship. Each year, only 14 Churchill Scholars are selected from among 103 American colleges and universities. Bhide is just the second WUSTL student to have ever won a Churchill. FULL STORY

The WUSTL men’s tennis team advanced to the title match of the 2011 Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Indoor Championship Feb. 20 but fell to No. 4 Emory 6-3 in Fredericksburg, Va. The Bears advanced by defeating No. 9 North Carolina Wesleyan Feb. 18 and No. 5 University of California-Santa Cruz Feb. 19.
